South Windsor, CT, August 2, 2016: DATTCO, the largest Connecticut-based, passenger transportation company, is pleased to announce it has been selected by the South Windsor Board of Education to be responsible for the operations of its school bus transportation. The contract will provide service to grades PK-12 and includes home-to-school routes, in district special needs transportation, summer school and charter services.
DATTCO will work with the Board’s administration and will upgrade the fleet this year by replacing the district’s “flat-nosed” buses with “conventional” style buses. The new buses will be equipped with GPS vehicle tracking technology, two-way radios and onboard camera systems. DATTCO operates a system of service departments and body shops across the state, allowing ease and cost savings of fleet maintenance.
With this new contract, DATTCO is hiring 40 new drivers and has opened a school bus terminal in town, located on Ident Road. DATTCO seeks to fill vacant positions with local residents who are interested in becoming drivers. Free training for CDL licenses is provided to new hires. The South Windsor Board of Education selected DATTCO as its new contractor after receiving competitive bids last fall. A review of DATTCO’s safety record and their reputation as a reliable provider ultimately resulted in the Board’s final decision.
