Middlesex County Chamber Honors DATTCO

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce is proud to award DATTCO, INC with the January 2004 Business of the Month Award.
DATTCO INC., a family owned transportation business, prides itself on being the most diversified transportation company in the Northeast. The company has developed under the tremendous leadership of Louis DeVivo, President, and his son
Donald, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Founded in 1924 and will celebrate their 80th anniversary in June.
DATTCO currently employees over 1200 people in its school bus, activity transport, motor coach, tour & travel and sales & service divisions.
The school bus division owns over 700 buses which provide service for 12 school systems. DATTCO transports 65,000 students daily during the school year.
The motor coach division owns & operates 53 motor coaches that tour attractions throughout the United States and Canada.
The tour & travel department has been apart of DATTCO’s unique makeup for over 20 years. They specialize in creating customized tours for groups ranging from student to senior citizens to corporate outings. DATTCO also has a full service travel agency that plans tours open to the public as well as individual vacations.
DATTCO’s service department employs over 120 mechanics which are responsible for the complete maintenance of their vehicle fleet. Twelve service facilities are located throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
DATTCO sales division sells more than 500 new school and commercial buses annually throughout New England.
The company and its employees are involved in a number of local charitable and civic functions associated with the greater Middlesex community as well as surrounding communities. During 2003, DATTCO contributed to Oddfellows Playhouse, was a supporter of the Middletown YMCA capitol building campaign, contributed to the Middletown Youth Center, donated to various local youth sports and participated in various in various community holiday campaigns including teaming with Middletown Girl Scouts for “stuff a bus.”
Other notable charitable efforts include contributions to local Dare programs, Project Graduation , half tuition for students attending the University of Hartford and the Greater Hartford Foodshare.
